Canasta: Strategy & Supervised Play (SP21334)

Enjoy playing Canasta, a card game in the rummy family. Beginners learn the fundamentals of play and winning strategies so you can join in the fun of playing this widely popular game. Strategy classes are designed to improve success for players with at least 3 months' experience. In all classes, we play Modern American canasta where you cannot discard a wild card.

NEW Visit the recently opened Francis M. Maguire Hall for Art & Education in Chestnut Hill and see how a Gothic Revivial residence was transformed into a 21st century museum. Explore galleries with a docent-led tour highlighting Violet Oakley, the Pennsylvania Impressionists, living Philadelphia artists, the Illustration Arts, plus a new jewelry vault. See many masterpieces previously held in storage. Stay for the “art + nature" experience on the grounds. Ever wondered what it must be like to glide effortlessly along the Schuylkill River in a rowing shell? This Beginner/Advanced Beginner class will offer the fundamentals of proper sculling technique, safety and boat handling skills. Expect a total body workout from this strenuous sport that requires flexibility and stamina. You must be able to swim. Class limited to 6 students.

Meteor Shower Kayak at Marsh Creek State Park (SP22094)

Watch a spectacular celestial display on this beautiful, peaceful night paddle through the calm waterways of this Downingtown area Park. The Perseid meteor shower is the brightest of the year and you might view between 50 to 100 meteors per hour. After a brief demonstration to review basic strokes and techniques, your guide will take you on a leisurely paddle to an optimal viewing spot. Along the way spot wildlife and learn fascinating facts about local history. All equipment provided.
